:-/hi gang. does anyone know how to re set air by pass screws in twin 45 webs?. have been having trouble with / spit back through trumpets, and i am experiencing hesitation on hard throttle, and rough tick over. all was fine before i went for iva but they were tweeked by examiner to get emissions right ,infact they have gradually got worse. the carbs are new and only done 200 miles. think they may need re bal/tuning again?. any hints chaps would be most welcome, need to sort them for summer. john.

John. Perhaps someone with some knowledge will come along, thats not me. Suggest you speak to Graham/Duncan at Chester Sportscars, they will probably be able to help. I can recommend as can many others on here for carb set up on rolling road - A.B.Garage Hawarden CH53QX 012440537701 They do the set ups for CSC. Regards Mike

They are not really that difficult mate to set up but its a bot time consuming. As long as they are balanced correctly that is the main thing and the IVA guy would have only messed with mixture settings.
Anyway warm up the motor best you can, set the idle speed to about 1k (ish) switch off engine, turn all four mix screws all the way in then turn each one out about 1 and 1.2 turns..... a turn being a complete revolution of the screwdriver slot.
Now start the engine and start with the the far left screw, just turning out slowly till you hear a change in engine note, (becomes a bit lumpy or the tickover decreases) once you hear that change, slowly turn clockwise counting the turns until the engine starts to change note again, count the turns from one point to the other, say 4 turns and then back off 1/2 that so it would be two turns counter clock wise. Rev the engine for a few secs, re-adjust the idle speed and move on to the next one and so on and so forth.
You may have to go over them all again maybe 2 or 3 times its a slow process, but you can achieve good results.
Oh yeah turning clockwise weakens the mix and counter clockwise richens.
Hope this helps
