Hi all, new sump arrived today , I was out in garage putting my new heat wrap on the exhaust manifold pipes , looks v good . I heard a van passing the gates and sure enough the interlink van with the sump . They have made a v good job of it too . Also came with a new shortened oil pipe. Just need starter to complete the upgrades Graham

Been looking in my Sierra haynes manual and the refitting instructions say to use a sealing compound (from ford dealers) ,has anybody used this or did you use another sealer ? It also says to apply the gaskets to the engine and not the sump .

Hi mate, when I used to play with escorts I never bought anything form Ford, just used off the shelf stuff from the local motor factors.

Hi Tony , went to local dealers and got the sealent I get employee's discount so not too bad . I think its a high temp silicone . Did a bit more on car today , water pipes sorted , checked small pipe coming off the bottom radiator main pipe and it had a split in it so thats ok now , tried alternator belt it was too big so took old one and got them to measure new to old .Will fit that tomorrow . Halfords have had to reorder my oil so that will be next week I hope .

New sump now fitted ,Came with new shortened oil pickup pipe . It was a bit tight going on , I did measure the distance of the pipe to the block face and the depth of the sump and it was about 5mm diff. Hope thats not too close . Also fitter new exhaust wraps to pipes . Graham

Fitted my new Starter motor today , at first I had that nightmare of it not fitting because of the engine mounting plate being in the way . Set to with the dremal and cut the corner off the plate . Then the fuel pipe was in the way ,off with the clips and gently move the pipe .Just fits in now . A bit more oil and tried starting up . The motor spins the engine really good and quick ,and the engine burst into life ,left it going for 20mins and then torqued up the sump bolts . Only the sump guard to finish off and I'll be ready for the road again .
