Hi,
This subject has obviously been covered a number of times but can anyone give a approx cost of the potential upgrade from a Pinto 2L to a faster more reliable engine.
Was thinking of going the route of Chester Sports Cars and having it done properly.
Thanks, Matt

hi matt. depends what power band your looking for,i.e, fast road, road and track,or just a bit more than average. i opted for a pinto tuned to 2.1 which seems to be a popular choice, mainly because it gives you a sort of inbetween mild road and track capability. the main thing to stick to is your budget, decide what stage of tune you want shop round and stick to your guns, its a mine field of tuning goodies out there. i am more than happy with my 2.1 set up i had mine done by vulcan engines of brands hatch, i would recomend ringing them they are very helpfull on tuning, and not all that expensive for what you get. the other option depending on your skills is self re build, but this can be just as dear .mines punching out around just over 161 bhp with twin 45 webers and fast road cam, cost around £5.000. four years ago. happy hunting. john.

My tiger has a 2.0l zetec with throttle bodies and a megasqirt from Chester Sportcars and set up at A&B Garage on there rolling road my bhp is 192 . Graham & Duncan at CSC are very good with zetecs and bike carbs and very helpful with advice. Clive

One thing to think about going from a Pinto to Zetec is carbs and exhaust are on opposite sides so usually involves a bit of bodywork
