Hi, guys.
For some while I have always wanted a "Seven style" car, but figured it was an expense I could never stretch to? I was unaware however at the sheer choice of Caterham/ westfield alternatives! After looking around, i figure the Tiger E1 is the car for me, as I love the look, and I love the curves and bumps, which make it look less blocky the Robin hood, etc.
I think "zetec" is the way to go, although more expensive, anything I should be aware of as a total kit car newbie?
I'll be buying secondhand as I have very limited mechanical ability, but my passion for driving is second to none.:-)

Welcome to the forum Truedriver.
When you are looking for a 7 style car there is a lot to choose from and indeed there's the cost. You can't go far wrong with the Tiger range, it's a mid range cost vehicle but a with a high build quality, its just a question then of which power unit goes in it.
Zetec or Duratec is a good choice what ever you're choice in kit or plant there are plenty of us to give advice and support.
As for a test drive depends on were your based I have a super six and your more than welcome to have a ride.
Regards Trev. (TC)

Cheers guys. I like my cars, but a "7" has always been the dream car. I guess the closest I got was when I had a Smart Roadster, although low powered it handled great! I miss that thrill, so a loud open kit car is what I want!:-) Thanks for the heads up, I might give Chester a try, as I still haven't been in a Tiger, lol.
If any event is due, I'd love to drop by to get your opinions, I liked the forum spirt when I owned my Roadie. I'm based in Wirral, so give me a shout if you're nearby. :-)

Hi truedriving First of all welcome to the forum, secondly yes it is a quiet forum as there are probably only half a dozen members that seem to post on any kind of regular basis.Hopefully now the weather is getting better and some of the Tigers come of SORN the forum and runs out will pick up.Those of us that do meet up are a friendly bunch and i'm sure you will be made welcome even if you are not a Tiger owner yet !(neither am i,i'm an ex owner now got a Z4)I'm in Ellesmere Port so any future runs you can tag along with me if you like

Welcome to the forum, mine's been off the road for a bit for 'tinkering' but all legal again now and with the weather improving should be a bit more on the forum and getting out. More than welcome to a ride in mine but I'm in N Wales so not exactly local.

Hi all and welcome to Truedriver,I took mine out for the first time yesterday it performed just as i had left it in December excellent ;)Had a run around Derbyshire & Cheshire,on the way back passed Jodrell Bank i was stopped by a black BMW police car who didn't like my overtaking, but they were both OK I think it was an excuse to have a closer look at my car. after we set off police behind me doing about 55mph,a Mercedes passed us both doing about 100mph,the blue lights came on behind and I didn't know BMW's could accelerate as fast as a Tiger they stopped the Merc a mile down the road I don't think they would have been as friendly. Looking forward to more sunny warm weather and a meet for a run out! Clive.

Lucky escape Clive, glad your back on the road again. Sue and i were out around Bala yesterday and ended up at the Ponderosa up on the Horse shoe pass it was a fairly quiet day think everyone was keeping hold of what fuel they had. we'll have to sort a run out soon and see all of the winter tinkering in the flesh.

Hi clive ,Neil , I have just got to fix on my "Turbo air scoop " to the bonnet and I can go out . Got my tax today , its gone up to £220 for 12months now . Is that the 1st time you've been pulled over clive ? Do you think the BMW was following you for a while or just in the line of traffic ?

Hi Neil & Graham, There was only Sue & I and the BMW on the winding road, I actually thought it wanted to race as he was right up my rear for a couple of miles. So I thought "I'll shake him" ;D then I overtook an Audi, think they were a bit peeved so pulled me. They were Ok and smiling !! We will have to arrange something in the next few weeks, shame weather not so good for Easter. Graham "When did you fit a Turbo" Clive

Thought you might pick up on that ;D
Its just my air scoop to cover the hole I have had to cut for the oil filler cap.

Cheers all, and thats more like it loads of posts!:-) Am I mad thinking of buying a Tiger when I have no garage, I hope a cover will do? Just wondering if you can drive a car you have insured/ taxed on the same day, i.e. have no paperwork, but on the system? The reason I ask the car I am after has an MOT but no tax, and I would want to drive it back the same day.:-)

I haven't got a garage, Tig just lives under a cover, only thing I would say is buy a decent one, the first cover I had scratched the paint and stretched about a foot in a couple of months
