Well MOT out of the way (who in their right minds gets a Tiger MOT'd in February, the old owner must have been made of tougher stuff that me!) so now on with some of the little jobs.......
Anyone have any experience of electric fuel pumps on a old Pinto engine. I'm thinking of changing the mechanical one for an electric so that when I haven't started the car for a couple of weeks I don't flatten the battery getting fuel up to the carbs! (Unless I just have a knackered fuel pump, anyone else experience this problem?)
Seem cheap and easy to fit, read somewhere that you really should fit like an inertia switch or such like in case of a crash so that it shuts off the fuel. Guess that is where a mechanical pump wins!
Comments would be much appreciated... Thanks

I fitted one at the rear next to the tank , but under the chassis where the pipe comes out of the tank i made a plate to go over the hole where the mech pump went . I used the gasket off the old pump. You will need a regulator in line to reduce the pressure for the carbs . I found the wire next to the tank to supply the pump ,I fitted an inline fuse in this wire . If you dont have a pump yet I'll find the info for the one I have .

Thanks Graham, what pressure did you set for the supply to the carbs, and were you using the bike carbs at the time carbs? The info on the pump would be good, did you end up fitting an inertia switch or anything similar in case of an crash etc? C

Yes bike carbs , 2 psi for them . Webers about 3psi . I now have a large filter bowl / regulator next to the carbs . Graham

I would recomend an inline filter between the tank outlet and the pump as well- ruined 2 pumps before I realised it was a good idea Tony

Hi again Chris, Chester Sports Cars recommended the following to me. Fuel pump SS501 @ £28-00. Regulator FRR008 @£29-50. Unions RD2434 (2 off) @£3-50 each. These are available at Rally Design. See their website for details and pics. Also, as Tony says, use an inline filter. Cheers Pete

Hi tooly. Car MOT'd by Irby Motor Co, they MOT at least three Tigers I know of. Mine, the one belonging to my friend who recommended them to me and the one I viewed before buying this one!
No problems, first time pass, double checked all the simple things myself but was about concerned about a couple of things the old owner had done. Obviously no issues though.

Right, job ticked off at last! Electric fuel pump, filter/reg, inertia switch, mech pump blanking piece all done and all working You should have seen the crud that came out of the mech pump when I took it off! Spotted lots of other things whilst climbing in, out and under the car......maybe new seats will have to wait! Has anyone any experience of replacing the standard Tiger seats with something else - I'm worried they will foul on the inner wheel arches!? Either that or I'll lose my leg room?

Hi Chris I recently changed my seats to JK composites and they are brilliant I'm 6ft and I struggled with my original Tiger seats for leg room and knee room to the steering wheel. On fitting theses you sit allot lower in the car and bags more leg room in fact I extended my steering column with a detachable steering wheel and Boss they are very very comfortable. Speak to Keith at JK their web site is www.jkcomposites.com click on Sevens and upholstery mine are black with yellow upholstery Keiths no is 01704 569730 have a look at the link and see what you think. www.flickr.com/photos/tiger6trev/Trev.

Hi all , Trev is right these seats are nice to sit in . Trev's car is different in that there is no "pigs ear" in the corners for the seats to press against but when I took out the old pads I put my seats in front of them . I have Intatrim padded seats . I put a block of wood under the front to tilt the seat back . If I had the JK seats I would have even more room ,so you can change seats without to much trouble . I have posted on here with pics .

Another vote for Jk's, the bottome edge is quite rounded so they don't foul the pigs ears by much
