Hi to all 2.0 Zetec Silvertop Cat owners with ERA sump fitted. How much oil do you put in your engines, as in filling up at point of oil change? Thanks Pete

Hi pete , is the dip stick a standard one ? If yes then just fill it till it comes up to the top mark . This is what they will say on the tiger forum , its the level that matters not the quantity .

Hi Graham and Rick, Thanks for replies. I have put 3 litres in and that has brought level to top 'V' on dipstick. Presume I have a standard dipstick. The top cross/pull bar is about 2" x 0.5" and has a yellow insert, same colour as inserts on top of filler cap. It tapers down to a point at the bottom. Does this sound like the standard one? I can't run the engine at the moment, to settle the oil in through the engine, as I am still sorting alternator repairs out and I have got a few bits disconnected. Cheers Pete

Have you changed oil filter too ? If so then the level will go down a bit , just bring it back up to the mark . I'd say it was a normal dip stick . My pinto only takes 31/2 lts on a change .

Hi Clive, Getting it sorted gradually I think. I machined the broken lug off the lower bracket, made another slightly thicker one and had it welded on. That's all painted and ready to go on. The problem with the lower bolt on the upper bracket (the one you spotted) coming loose is due to the thread in the ally being damaged/stripped a bit. It is only approx the first 10mm, which is how far that bolt went in. the tapped hole is about 25mm deep so I think the thread further down is ok. I have sorted some longer bolts, and made spacers to replace the stack of washers, so am going to carefully run a tap down to clear the damaged section and hopefully with a little threadlock and not over tightening this will sort it. Done an oil and filter change too while the alternator was out of the way (hence oil quantity questions). Cheers Pete

Well done Pete, once the back bolt is in, it will take the pressure off the bolt hole where the thread has stripped, hopefully,Clive
