Hello Brian...and welcome to the nuthouse...er...club. If you need a pair of hands anytime, give a shout.... Paul Hi all. Thanks for the welcome & offers of help. I'll need all the help I can get! So the story. I'm taking on a part-build from a friend who has had to break off to sort some health problems. Not got it yet but had a quick look. Largely done I think. Wiring will be my first job. Not done anything like a build before, but have done deep work on bikes & cars over many years.
The car: Pinto 1800 re-con engine. Ferrari red. thingyleshell wings. Now you know as much as I do!
Probably not time to do much before winter, so will ask a zillion questions before then. Not met a Cat before, so looking forward to seeing some complete ones.
Sad not able to join you in Rossett. That is the day we fly home.
In the meantime, thanks again & looking forward to meeting you all.
Thanks again
Brian

Haha...Proboards acts as Censor and Arbiter of good taste again. Every time you type something this site considers rude,or offensive, it changes it to "thingy"! Quite magic... Try it...type in d**k (rhymes with rick), or c**k (rhymes with croc), hence "thingyleshell" in Brian's above.....
I'm going to gave some fun with that later.....

Ah well. There has to be a clown in every group to amuse the others. Never mind I thought it was the greybeard brain soup setting in. So how else can I say it? Instead of the cycle wings we have the curvy swoopy ones. I'm told it reduces the volume of road grit you swallow. Perhaps it's seen as the limp-wristed version. I'm ready for all the comments. Bring it on I can take it with minimal sobbing in the corner. Packing today to fly to the sun tomorrow. So there! Might swop a few insults from the poolside, sangria permitting.

Clam shell rude/ offensive ? Showing myself up again. Didn't listen. Clam shells are they? Harked back to my canoeing days & automatically said c..kleshell. You see ... lots to learn. Will make you all feel very superior. Told you I knew very little about the car I'm buying. Can only get worse I suppose. Stand by for many knowing smirks.

It's OK Brian...my CAT was so poor when I first joined, it took about 18 months and a shedload of money and effort before I dared show up in it...and then it wouldn't start, Since then, on a Scottish trip, it lost a cycle wing, damaged a bonnet retainer, and my clutch cable broke for the third time in a month. So don't feel embarrassed...we're all here to help in whatever way we can. I must confess my learning curve was a steep one too...but that's half the fun. Why buy a Caterham from the factory? No fun in that.... Happy to help out...have a good holiday....
Oh...beware the evil one who calls himself The Trev. He is Satan incarnate, and will lead you astray.

Thanks for the wisdom Paul. However please don't mention the shedloads of money too often. I'm trying to live on a pension!!!!! Too late now to be scared off I s'pose. I once read that a 7 was for motorcyclists who get scared of falling off. That's me these days. So my motorbike/powerboat/canoe substitute all in one. Oh how the mighty are fallen. My step-daughter's boyfriend told me to act my age, not my shoe size. (and that from a 19 year old)Fat chance. If I can figure out how, I'll send you all a pic of this fool trying to drown himself in the pool. Or maybe not.
