Hi all
I'm back home now & determined, somehow, to find time to do some real work on Y Ddraig Goch (our Red Dragon). 1st job in picking up from where Stan started is to fix the rear body to the spare wheel carrier. It looks straight forward enough. I have a piece of right angle patterned alloy which I think will look pretty good. I am minded to make it quite wide to stabilize the rear panel. However, the panel does not meet the chassis member at a right angle. Is this normal? Of course I could reduce the angle of the alloy to less than 90deg with a vice, block of wood & mallet, but I worry about stressing the moulding when it is attached. The sketchy build manual says it is necessary to trim the bottom of the panel to fit over the chassis members, but 2 or 3 owners have said no, so maybe not. Is it expecting to be attached at a rt angle? This is my first job involving drilling/cutting/fixing so a confidence boost is needed. Any advice please?
Looking forward to the next pub meet.

Hi Brian.. Suggest you copy and paste this onto the new forum? I've not had to build my own body, so can't help on this...unless you think another pair of eyes might help? I could always take some photos of the back / underside rear of my own Cat E1 if it helps.... I don't work Mondays or Fridays, so happy to have a look.

Brian My bodywork was trimmed around wheel carrier before I took it off but mine is a very early model. First thing to learn about a Cat is don't expect everything or even anything to be square or symmetrical !
