OK Trev. My clutch cable has been repaired, not replaced, as the garage did not know which one to use. Some forums advise std Sierra...others advise Cortina or Capri if the pedal system is floor mounted like mine. I'm totally confused as some even suggest a Golf cable! I'll get Graham at CSC to look at it, but am getting more depressed by all this. The cable doesn't pass the exhaust (as it would if the pedals were top down) so it's not heat...and the path and curve are good. The mechanic suggested there may be a rubber grommet missing at the gearbox....but can't see how that would cause breakages so frequently. So..let's see what Graham and Duncan say today and tomorrow.... See you all this evening.....

Ok Paul finger crossed they can solve it I will have your Polo shirt tonight for you so you can try it on It's £25 feller would be good if we can all wear our shirts tonight. I will bring a print out of the route for everyone for the Co-pilots and who has a Garmin or Tomtom? If I had all the email addresses I could send the route to you all to download to your satnav's so we don't get lost.... Trev.

Hi Trev...will pay you cash tonight..if you buy me a pint of lager. I will be using a Tomtom, but I also have spare, a working Navman which is good...if anyone doesn't have a satnav, they can use that! I'll bring it tonight. Will also advise Clive re choice of food first lunch pitstop.
You will ALL need to do a strong selling job on me tonight, to take the Tiger. The clutch cable has been tested, and Graham assures me it will be fine. Duncan even said he'd go to the South of France in it tonight if I gave him the key! I still got a spare cable, though....and a spare throttle cable. The challenge is to persuade me to take it..if it snaps again, I don't want to be the cause of delays, holdups, etc. so would immediately get it taken home. The thought of a couple of you hanging around for me is not acceptable. Mind you, you'd all probably do the time-honoured Top Gear thing, and bugger off anyway...
So....Tiger....and adventure and risk and getting damp....or Boxster..........?? My missus is certain...so persuade me to use my heart tonight!!
I also suggest I compile a list of mobile phone numbers tonight, and print them out ready...assuming we're all taking them....and assuming we can get a signal...I couldn't get one off nutsty Tesco Mobile at the Ponderosa...so what chance have I got stuck in some hairy-arsed Highland sheep farmer's croft gateway? Still...Pat will have hers as she is the support / backup....
Forecast remains mixed.....
See you tonight.

Sorry guys, looks like I shant make it in time. I did say Tuesday was best and today would be touch and go.
Been daddy day care and now just started this bloomin Saab convertible seat rebuild with repaired seat belt.
Will defo catch up when your back, even if it means a coffee stop at peoples houses to measure up for rear diffuser's.
Paul, get that car used and replenish your faith in it.
You've done some major work to it fella and the odd niggle is going to happen.
Have a good trip guys, and I want plenty of pic's.

You are VERY welcome at chateau Hale to discuss diffusers....and bacon butties and good espresso on tap..... You're right about replenishing my faith....but I'm up against an immovable force known as Pat......she's seen my disappointment about these cables snapping.... So...it's still in the balance...
There'll be lots of photos and movies...probably far far too much. I'll take my Gopro to Trev...he seems expert at compiling porn....er....er... I mean posh movies....
See you if we get back..we have Union flags on our cars, and are heading for the Highlands......<gulp>......

Right...that's it...now even Clive is having issues....albeit small.
We're all doomed, as Private Fraser would say.....
Shall I take the Boxster? NO! It's the Tiger....you're not disowning or getting rid of me that easily...

Twice.....Tony's starter motor will give out....Clive's engine will boil.....Chris Shanahan will give up laughing at the rest of us idiots....and we'll all get lost anyway. Great fun...
